On November 1st, in Kyiv, as part of the "Ensuring Access to Life-Saving Medical Assistance in Eastern Ukraine" project, Health Solutions organized a training session for doctors and nurses from Kramatorsk, led by trainers from Mehad UA.

Objective: To raise awareness among healthcare professionals about stress management and building resilience in an environment where their work is daily accompanied by significant psychological stress.

During the training, participants explored key topics related to stress, burnout, and self-care. Among the topics discussed were:

  • What is stress? Is stress a positive or negative factor in life?
  • Phases of stress and its types.
  • Signs of stress and how to recognize it.

The theoretical part of the training was complemented by a practical exercise in creating a collage titled "Signs of Stress," which allowed participants to visually depict how stress impacts them.

One of the key points discussed was the prevention of professional burnout, which poses a significant risk for doctors working in frontline communities. The manifestations of burnout were explored, along with practical tips on how to prevent it in different aspects of life.

Participants were also introduced to stress management techniques, including:

  • Breathing exercises.
  • Relaxation and grounding techniques, such as the "Butterfly Hug" technique.
  • Jacobson's progressive muscle relaxation method.

Additionally, doctors had the opportunity to try art therapy as one of the methods for stabilizing emotional well-being.

Special attention was given to the theme of self-care.

Participants learned what self-care means and how to incorporate it into their daily lives. Tips for improving sleep and mindfulness exercises became practical tools for maintaining health and productivity.

This training is of great significance for medical personnel working in frontline areas, as stress management skills are not only crucial for their own well-being but also for providing effective care to patients who are also under constant stress.
