During our monitoring visit to Kramatorsk, we spoke with Oleksandr Vlasenko, the General Director of Family Medicine Center 1, about the successes of the project "Ensuring Access to Essential Medical Care in Eastern Ukraine."
Oleksandr emphasized that this project is particularly important for elderly individuals who have difficulty reaching healthcare facilities.
Due to the war, the city is facing a shortage of doctors, as many specialists have left. Therefore, mobility and modern equipment are crucial for the effective operation of medical staff.
CARE has provided Kramatorsk doctors with a mobile clinic that will operate at the Primary Medical Care Center No. 1.
The clinic is based on a MAN all-terrain truck, equipped to measure blood pressure and sugar levels, perform ECGs and ultrasounds. Additionally, in case of emergencies, it is outfitted with equipment for urgent care and resuscitation.
To enable autonomous operation, powerful generators have been installed. Accessibility has also been addressed, with a ramp constructed for people with disabilities.
Due to shelling of civilian infrastructure in Kramatorsk, many clinics serving the outlying private sector have been destroyed. As a result, elderly individuals and those with limited mobility have found themselves cut off from medical services. CARE, in collaboration with partners like Health Solutions, is strengthening the capacity of healthcare facilities in the Kramatorsk community.

This post was prepared as part of the project "Ensuring Access to Essential Medical Care in Eastern Ukraine," implemented with the support of the humanitarian organization CARE.
