This is done with the support of ULEAD with Europe and "Leadership in Creating a Healthy Community," supported by the International Renaissance Foundation.

On October 20, we held a meeting as part of the "Healthy and Capable Community" project.

The meeting was conducted by our experts Mykhailo Dovhopol and Olena Reshetnyak, who presented the international experience of OptiMedis and the experience of the Bucha community. The working group explored the concept of a “healthy community” and discussed ways to motivate people to take care of their health.

Зустріч з Первомайською громадою

In these two projects, our Foundation, together with partners, helps communities rethink health and adapt models of integrated service systems. Going forward, the working group will analyze health data and related issues within the community and make decisions regarding the direction of comprehensive interventions to address health problems (playing the role of the integrator).

We learned that the community has numerous resources to engage the population of all ages, from extracurricular education to an inclusive resource center. For these resources to function in line with the goals of a healthy community, it is necessary to unite community representatives from various sectors: social, educational, and cultural.

The goal is to form a shared identity around the “integrator.”

During the discussion, members of the working group realized that a healthy community is much more than just a community where people don’t get sick.

“A healthy community is one where there are no lines in hospitals,”
noted one of the participants.

This is the working group's vision of a healthy community:

  • Physically active people
  • People who love themselves and are satisfied with their lives
  • People who visit doctors for preventive care
  • A community where people travel a lot and see the world
  • A healthy community is one that experiences demographic growth.

We are grateful to the Pervomaisk City Council and all participants for their active involvement in this process. Together with our partners, we will continue to work on creating healthy and capable communities in Ukraine.
