The Diabetes School, part of the "Healthy Communities" project, has recently concluded. The program was not only aimed at medical professionals but also those who are most in need of knowledge—patients at risk of developing type 2 diabetes.
In total, 12 events took place in 2023 within the framework of the "Diabetes School" program in the participating communities — Bucha, Kramatorsk, Pervomaisk, Mukachevo, and Skvyra.
Together with dietitians, psychologists, and fitness trainers, we discussed in detail how to prevent this disease, what comprehensive prevention measures should be, and how each of us can consciously take care of our health.

The Main Goal of the School
Education and responsible attitude toward one's health. The mission of Health Solutions for an Open Society is not just to provide information, but to change the perspective on health among Ukrainians.
Participants in our Diabetes School gained valuable knowledge and received certificates confirming their participation and training. We are proud of each of them and grateful for their desire to become healthier!
The Growing Threat of Diabetes in Ukraine
Over the past 10 years, the prevalence of diabetes, particularly type 2, in Ukraine has increased by 50%, posing a serious threat to the nation. Currently, there are 2.3 million people living with diabetes in the country, but nearly one million of them are unaware of their diagnosis.
Diabetes remains a significant medical and social problem, often leading to complications and increasing the risk of cardiovascular diseases, amputations, vision loss, and other negative outcomes.
Type 2 Diabetes Prevention Requires a Conscious Approach to a Healthy Lifestyle:
- Rational nutrition
- Regular physical activity
- Quitting smoking
- Maintaining a healthy weight
But, you can get involved right now by taking a diabetes test.
For example, the Health Solutions team regularly undergoes tests, monitors their nutrition, and makes time for workouts.
